I just wanted to let our Eastern Market family know that we will back to the market on Sat. March 6th. I have Exciting News. Along with our Beef we will have PORK with us on March 6th. This is Pig-aerator pork(if you have watched Food Inc. you will know what I mean) so along with our beef roasts, steaks, and ground beef we will also have Pork Chops, Ham Steaks, Bacon and Sausage.

Something else new for Sat. March 6th.: We will have some Freezer Pre-packs and some Intro to Grass-fed Meat Bags with us. They will contain an assortment of meat products. Bags will range from $25 to $50 and boxes from $100 to $150. These prices are a little cheaper than our retail pricing for what is in the box or bag. A list of items will be clearly marked so you know what you are getting.

As usual I look forward to seeing you on the 6th.

Food Inc. viewing at the Eastern Market

Alex and I had a wonderful time Wednesday evening at the viewing of Food Inc. in Detroit. It is encouraging to meet people who beleive in and appreciate what we are trying to do as grass farmers. The response to our meat products has been great. We want to make sure we have enough product for everyone interested this year so get those order forms back to us asap or give us a call.

I am sure many of you are checking out our blogspot for the first time. Go to the old posts so you can get a good idea of who we are and what we do. You can see pictures of our family, shareholders and yes many of the animals raised this past year. We use moveable housing for the poultry and the beef and pigs are on nice green pastures. Do not hesitate to call if you have any questions. 517-765-2268

Vegetable CSA Members

Snow is on the ground, but it is time to get started with spring garden preparations. If you were a CSA member last year, your sign-up forms are in the mail. Please notice we have switched to using reusable tote bags as opposed to boxes. There is one share size this year. Tentative pick-up points are at the Hiday Farm, Coldwater, Marshall, and Battle Creek. Times and places as yet to be determined. To help with the work load, we will be using some produce from other growers to help with any shortfalls. As always, we will do our best to keep quality and food safety a priority.

The deadline for the Vegetable sign up is April 1, however we purchase seed in February and March. It would be helpful to us if you could call and let us know if you plan on signing up for this year by the end of February. This too will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Thank you to the shareholders who responded to our survey. Your input was greatly appreciated. Feel free to call with any questions or concerns.
