OPEN HOUSE

Hello everyone this is Aaron.

Dad is having problems with the internet at home, so I'm posting for him from school.  There are a couple of things to tell you all about.

First - The Hiday Farm annual open house is Sunday, October 14th, from 2-4PM.  RAIN or SHINE!  No RSVP required.  Call if you need directions, 517-765-2268.  The farm is also easy to find using mapquest or google maps.
Our address is:
2948 12 Mile Rd.
Burlington, MI 49029

Second - After three years of trying, we finally found an excellent sausage maker.  We now have summer sausages and snack sticks made from Hiday Farm meats (including our special Mangalitsa pork).  They will be available for online purchase soon at www.hidayfarm.com/.

BOLD -- MANGALITSA

Last night was the debut of our Mangalitsa pork. BOLD in Kalamazoo had a special dinner featuring a Mangalitsa pig from the Hiday Farm. Chef Andy did a superb job, everything was great. My thanks go out to Shane and Andy for taking a chance on something new and for all those who took part in the event.
We will have product with us at the market.

Other good news: RAIN. We finally got a little rain and we are starting to see a little green again. But beef will still be lagging behind compared to years past.

See you soon.

HOT and DRY

A couple of important items to make you aware of.
First: We have a couple of new confirmed dates for the Texas Twp. Market. They are JUNE 30th. and JULY 28th.

SECOND: We are in a Drought situation here at the Hiday Farm and some of the steers we expected to use this season may not make weight by fall. This mean LESS animals to work with and Smaller animals. So I expect to run out of beef shares and shares will most likely be on the smaller side. Get orders in soon to be assured of getting beef this year.

Salsa , Jams and Calves, WHAT??

A  lot has been happening over the last few months. By April 1st. you should be able to purchase our Low Sugar Jam and Reduced Sodium Salsa online.  hidayfarm.com    We have spent several months working on this and are proud of our products. The reduced sodium salsa was developed with the help of our good friend Dr. Tom Rifai. He is a metabolic nutrition specialist and helped guide us on our nutrition and sodium content.

As of today we have 3 new calves and look forward to many more.

And to bring you up to date on the family. Holly and I now have two sons engaged to be married. Aaron is now engaged to his sweetheart Hillary. We look forward to welcoming her to the family.

Change

In my last post I mentioned that 2012 will see several changes for the Hiday Farm and family. First change to mention is that on Jan. 15th. our oldest son Alex proposed to his girlfriend Lillian, and she said YES. They are planning a July wedding. We are VERY EXCITED and look forward to welcoming her to our family.

Another addition to the Farm is our web store. It is in the developement stages, but you can go to it and take a look and give us some feedback.    http://www.hidayfarm.com/
We will be carrying a line of Hiday Farm Jams and Salsas. The Jams are a LOW SUGAR jam with no preservatives, no corn syrup or sugar. It is sweetened with pure cane juice and the fruits own natural sugars.
The Salsa also contains NO corn syrup or preservatives and we are reworking on the recipe to lower the sodium levels to make it more heart friendly. As soon as we can, we will have it ready for you to order. Besides these items we have a whole line of products in the pipeline that will be developed from Hiday Farm meats.
Hope all is well with you and yours

Some of you have already had a chance to try one of the changes - our product line of  Jams and Salsas. We will have some of them with us at the markets this summer. We are also working on an online shopping site. We will keep you up to date as it progresses. Well, enough for now. Take care and see you soon.
